New stuff

So Ive been working on formulating and actually putting into place some new ideas. And most of them have turned out to be pretty successful! I have 2 books I'm writing, one is helping with the other, but that's only because I'm starting one with a family member, and the other is a memoir. Ive had a pretty crazy childhood/early adult life...so, I think its suitable.

But anyways, about the photo book I'm working on; Its called "Our Nations Elders" could change to "Our Worlds Elders" but i think nation rings better....Eh, we'll see which it will need to be, depending on how many out of country subjects i get. But this book is part of my Heritage photography: Restoration and Story Documentation project. If you want more information about it please feel free to contact me, all the information is @ Shanistudios.com.

Ive also gotten an idea from a friend recently, who only photographs with a point and shoot. (No SLR....) and I thought it was a bit interesting. So i went a bit back to my roots and started photographing the sky, but Im doing it with my 5 megapix. phone camera. A lot of them have come out BEAUTIFUL. Bryan helped me to name the series, since they are all being taken while im driving "Life in the Drivers seat" but im thinking of changing that to "Scenes from the Drivers seat" humm...lol.

So i talked to Henry today, as I do every morning. But today he mentioned me taking his photo again. It was the first time I had talked about it with him in a while and was coming to a point where i was going to write him a letter about the above restoration project and see if he would do it. But i dont think he will. He told me he doesnt like his photo taken because it makes him think of a police thing where he is being tracked. Sounds like some USSR 'Theyre gonna bomb us" stuff to me, but...i dont know. He is a funny man. Oh well, if i never get a photo of him atleast Ill have the memory of talking to the 76 year old exports man who has 2 cars and still works on them. Who cherishes his Chevy Caprice and thinks the other car is a peice of junk. How i would love to hear the stories he has to tell.
