So once again this weekend I cant start my TV show project because we have a party... =) Oh well. But I think I should take the night off from my blog responsibilities with etiquette and dressing well to do research for beginning to work at a newspaper so when Amanda asks me where I want to work Im not unreasonable and say "National Geographic" and thats my only choice. I write this with a grin on my face.
But I was walking home and saw the American Flag illuminated by the sunset (which was scattered with rain clouds). So, I had my camera bag and instead of saying "oh well, Im walking near East 14th (I work on East 14th) in Oakland and shouldn't pull my $1000. camera out, plus its too much work..." I said "GET IT OUT! YOU WILL SEE SOMETHING" and while I was changing my lens...this guy on a extra large bike rode by.... AWESOME!!! I will post it later when I have a bit of time. =) I'm thinking I put a lot on my plate... but its slowly coming together. I just wish I could get the Young Adults Benefit Group together. I will soon though. I can do it all.... I just think it would be much easier if I was a housewife/event planner/blogger/blog writer/photographer rather than a Art Director/blogger/wanna be almost tv show host/photographer/writer/ event planner.../ everything else I want to be. Oh well such is life... all I want to do and not enough time.

This Morning was a good morning...
I woke up with my alarm going off for a second time, not wanting to get up...Still. But somthing made me want to check my phone.
I say go after the newspaper job and forget the other stuff. What newspaper are you wanting to work for? I might have connections for you Katie. I have met a lot of people in the last few years, especially working for Ocean Geographic, just let me know. Go big or go home, right?"
I had a facebook message. My status last night read: "2 Choices, Go back to school... nursing or something else that helps people and i can do while traveling or start working towards getting hired by a newspaper."
I had a few responses to this status this morning. One was somthing having to do with spiderman, one was a reply to the spiderman nonesense,... come to think of it 4 of the responses had to do with spiderman. Then my friend Amanda had responded this morning, early. This is what her message said:
""There is a redemptive power that making a choice has...you just DECIDE what it's going to be, who you are going to be, and how you are going to do it; just DECIDE and from that point the universe will get out of your way; it's water, it wants to move and go around stuff." ~~ Will Smith -but borrowed from my friend Sam's status. I thought it fit.

She opened my eyes in a way. Why shouldn't I go after what I really want? and why shouldn't I ask my friends, those who love me and encourage me for the help and motivation I need?
Amanda is off shooting Bull Sharks in Mexico right now, but I'm anxious for her to get back and hear her advice. She is such a great loving and caring person!
Check out her stuff!

Its been a while...

My Most Recent Work. This Family is a BLAST to work with!
So I haven't been too focused lately, but maybe that is why I am back online working on blogs. Im going to be working on my book again and also trying to plan charity events. I've also started 2 new blogs based off of interests I have.
Etiquette and Dressing Well. As a professional who interacts with people for a profession, these are both important. Joyce Wilson told a room full of Brooks Students who looked to her eagerly for advice, basically that you are presented with potential clients everywhere you go. How you present yourself is a representation of your professionalism. I believe that acting properly and eloquently goes hand in hand with this. If you're going to walk the walk, talk the talk and BE the person you portray.
As far as Shani Studios goes, I learned a valuable lesson with my last client. ALWAY PUT TRACKING NUMBERS ON PACKAGES CONTAINING YOUR WORK!!! I have now lost 2 Cd's (business price valued at $250.00) to the postal service. Also, that my price list is imperative to have on hand at all times.
This specific client told me that she has 3 or 4 other photographers who shoot for her and then GIVE her an edited CD of the images and sometimes, they even print and put together an album for her, all of which she eluded to being FREE! How are they doing it? I'd like to know! Well I'm off to ad another photographers blog to the list of blogs I follow.
